I did the newest Bodyrock.tv workout today and it had the coolest new exercises. I love trying moves I've never done before. It's a fun challenge to get your body used to a new movement and then to master it! Check out the video below and the site for a workout breakdown, then let me know you did!
My scores:
Reptile Toe Touch Push Up: 12, 10
Weighted Side Lunge Knee Up (with 2 10 lb dumbbells on my shoulder): R-19, 15 L-15, 15
Crab Fighter: R-10, 9 L-10, 12
Squat (with a 10 lb dumbbell on each shoulder): 16, 14
Today is my Plyo Day and for today's workout, I'm going to do Bodyrock.tv's May 30th Burpee Challenge! Zuzana's burpee combo will hit your arms, shoulders, core, lower abs, glutes and legs. This is an intense full body workout that will also melt fat! I challenge you to do this workout with me and post your scores in the comments.
I'm feeling great and ready for today's plyo routine. I have chosen to do an old BodyRock workout for today's routine, back when Zuzana was a blond! This routine is only 15 minutes long and is comprised of only 3 exercises. I'm a little short on time today, so this is perfect. Remember, something is better than nothing. Consistency is key. I'll keep track of how many rounds I can complete and post it here on my site when I'm done. Click here for a workout breakdown on Bodyrock.tv and the video is below.
Have fun with today's workout and keep rockin!
Monica
Monica's Score:8 1/2 Rounds....This workout is harder than it looks! My arms were killing me by the last one arm push up!
This is the final workout of BodyRock Week! I'm really glad I got to catch up on some of Zuzana and Freddy's workouts! I don't know about you, but my body is feeling it! I'm looking forward to a couple days of rest!
This week was a great reminder to mix up your workouts. Never give your body a chance to get bored, or for your workouts to get easy. Always keep it fresh, mix it up, and make it hurt. Your body will thank you!
I have a few different workouts that I keep going back to: hiking, yoga, BodyRock, and the DVDs to the right of this post. Having a variety of workouts that you actually enjoy will keep you from getting bored and keep your body from hitting a plateau. What workouts do you enjoy? What gets you moving on days when you really don't want to workout?
Well, here is the link to the Not Afraid Workout and the video is below. Zuzana and Freddy wrote a pretty inspirational post to go along with this workout as well, so I hope you read it.
I'll be back on Wednesday with a new PhilosophyFit routine, so I will see you then! We are going to rest for two days after these brutal workouts. Watch your body transform over the next 48 hours as it rebuilds muscle. :)
Here is the 3rd BodyRock workout for the week, the Hot in Here Workout. I'm curious if any of you are trying these routines, and how you like them? Don't be scared, just try one! haha If you have tried them, let me know in the comments section with your scores. This workout will really focus on your glutes and abs, and gets some arms in there too. If you don't have a sandbag, don't worry. You can do what I do, which is to use dumbbells instead. You can also make a makeshift sandbag with a bag of soil. With it being the beginning of Spring, you can get one anywhere...even though I would recommend you stay away from any of the ones containing guano (poop!).
Are you ready for the second BodyRock workout this week? This one focuses on your glutes, which I'm really excited about! You can click here to go to the BodyRock site for a breakdown and instructions for this routine. This workout is called the Hott Butt Workout, and I'll be posting my time once I complete the workout. Compete with me, and let's see who wins!
One of my all time favorite fitness blogs is BodyRock.tv. Zuzana and Freddy put together amazing videos of some killer workouts. They are very effective for how short they are. In fact, Zuzana and Freddy are the ones who first turned me on to high intensity interval training and body weight exercises. (In case you're reading, Hi Z & F! Mad love to you both!) I haven't done one of their workouts in a while, so I have decided to dedicate this week to catching up with some of their recent workouts. Try them with me. They are incredibly intimidating at first, but nothing beats the sense of accomplishment when you finish your first BodyRock Workout.
The first one for today is going to be the Abs Now! Workout. You can click on the link for detailed instructions for each exercise and the videos are helpful for seeing how to do them properly and how they all flow together. I will post my time for this workout when I'm done!
Enjoy this workout and....FitPhilosophers and Bodyrockers Unite! :)
Well, my back is still a little iffy, so I'm not going to push TOO hard. Today, I did Julianne Hough's Cardio Ballroom Workout followed by Zuzana's 4 Minute Workout (from Hell). The Cardio Ballroom is great for my back with all of the twisting and backbending. It always makes my back feel healthy and pain-free afterwards.
This workout is what helped me lose my first 30 pounds. On those days I was lacking motivation, I would want to do this workout because it is so fun! I have always loved to dance though, so for those of you who like to move your hips, this workout is for you! And speaking of moving my hips, this workout is what loosened my hips up. Forty pounds ago, my hips were stiff. I hadn't really moved them in a while, hadn't been active, so it was awkward for me at first, even though I had always danced in my past.
If you don't use it, you lose it....so move it!
If it feels awkward, THAT'S OK! Keep doing it and I promise you it will start to feel good. When I first started, I could only get through the first two segments of the video. Now the entire DVD is a breeze. Just push through, do your best, stop if you really need to, and try to do better tomorrow.
All you can do is your best!
I followed Cardio Ballroom with Zuzana's 4 Minute Workout. For only being four minutes long, this workout was so much harder than Cardio Ballroom. I fell on the ground when I was done! Focus on your form, even though it is easy to neglect when you are moving so fast.
Make form a priority!
My scores for the 4 Minute Workout were:
Blaster Push Up: 5-4-4-4-3-4
Jumper: 4-3-4-4-4-3
See if you can beat me! Some of you probably can, but I pushed myself to my own limit and my legs were killing me by the end! Let me know how you do!
